VIZZ ("the app") helps you understand local mosquito activity risk and map nearby
stagnant-water breeding sites. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the
app uses, why, and your choices. The app does not require you to create an
account, and it contains no advertisements.
1. Information We Use
- Location (approximate & precise): Used to fetch local weather for the
mosquito-risk estimate and to tag the location of stagnant-water reports you choose to add.
- Microphone (audio): Used only by the experimental "Listen to the Buzz"
tool, which measures the dominant frequency of ambient sound on your device in real time.
Audio is processed locally and is never recorded, stored, or uploaded.
- Photos (optional): If you attach a photo to a stagnant-water report,
it is stored only on your device and is not uploaded to any server.
- Stagnant-water reports: When you add a report, its coordinates, a
coarse geohash, the water type, an optional note, a timestamp, and an anonymous identifier
are saved so reports can be shown on the community map.
- Anonymous identifier: The app uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication.
This assigns a random ID to your device. It is not linked to your name,
email, or phone number.
- Notifications: Used to alert you about high-risk periods. You can
disable them in your device settings at any time.
2. Advertising
VIZZ is free and is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To show and
measure ads, AdMob (Google) may collect and process a device advertising identifier and related
technical data. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your Android settings
(Settings → Privacy → Ads). See

3. What We Do NOT Collect
- No name, email address, or phone number.
- No account or login is required.
- We never sell your personal data.
4. Third-Party Services
- Google AdMob — serves the ads that keep VIZZ free, and may use a device
advertising identifier as described above. (ads policy)
- Open-Meteo — weather forecasts. Your approximate coordinates are sent to
retrieve a local forecast. (terms)
- OpenStreetMap — map tiles for the water map (via osmdroid).
- Google Firebase — Anonymous Authentication and Cloud Firestore store the
community water reports described above. (Firebase privacy)
5. Data Storage & Retention
Your personal collection, settings, and any photos stay on your device. Community water
reports are stored in Cloud Firestore so they can appear on the shared map. You may request
deletion of reports associated with your anonymous identifier by contacting us at the email
below.
6. Children
VIZZ is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not
knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Important Notice
The mosquito-risk score is an estimate based on environmental factors. It is
not a medical or epidemiological prediction and should not be relied upon as health advice.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
